Answer:

Bohra iftar dua

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: …..Thanks for your answers in regards to my questions for Ramadan iftar-but you still havent cleared my doubt about the Dua that Bohras recite - Allahuma Moatayas

Salwaat, waliull ragabaat...Can that be recited while doing iftar?

Respected sister in Islam, the honest truth is that there is absolutely no mention of the terms and phrases ‘Allahuma Moatayas Salwaat, waliull ragabaat...’ quoted by you in the dua or supplications made by the Noble Messenger (saws) and recorded by the collectors of his (saw’s) authentic ‘ahaadeeths’.

The supplications the Noble Messenger of Allah (saws) would make when breaking his fast were:

Sunan of Abu-Dawood 2351 Narrated by Mu'adh ibn Zuhrah

The Prophet of Allah (saws) used to say when he (saws) broke his fast: ‘O Allah, for Thee I have fasted, in Thee I have believed, and with Thy provision I have broken my fast.’

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 2350 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar

When the Messenger of Allah (saws) had broken his fast he (saws) would say: ‘The thirst has gone, the glands are moist, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah Wills.’

Your Question: ...Can that be recited while doing iftar?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzab verse 21:

There is indeed the best example for you to follow in the Messenger of Allah, for every such person looks forward to Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisa verse 79-80:

We have sent you (O Mohamed) as a Messenger to mankind, and Allah’s witness suffices for this. Whoever obeys the Messenger, in fact obeys Allah, and whoever turns away from him, he will be accountable for his deeds. Anyhow, we have not sent you (O Mohamed) to be a guardian over them.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imran verse 31-32:

O Prophet, tell the people, “If you sincerely love Allah, follow me. Then Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, for He is All Forgiving, All Merciful.” Also say to them, “Obey Allah and His Messenger.” And if, in spite of this, they do not accept your invitation, warn them that Allah does not love those, who refuse to obey Him and His Messenger.

Respected sister, in all matters of the deen, it would be best to follow the example of the Messenger of Allah (saws)…..for we absolutely assure you sister, no person who ever walked on this earth feared Allah Subhanah more, or loved Allah Subhanah more, or worshipped Allah Subhanah better or more than the noble self of the Last and Final Messenger of Allah (saws)!

Your Question: Also if you would kindly mention the Arabic Words in English fonts not english Meanings?

Sunan of Abu-Dawood 2351 Narrated by Mu'adh ibn Zuhrah

The Prophet of Allah (saws) used to say when he (saws) broke his fast: ‘O Allah, for Thee I have fasted, in Thee I have believed, and with Thy provision I have broken my fast.’ (Allah humma inni laka sumto, wa bika amanto, wa ala rizkika aftarto.)

When the Messenger of Allah (saws) had broken his fast he (saws) would say: ‘The thirst has gone, the glands are moist, and the reward is confirmed, if Allah Wills.’ (Zahaba zamau, wab tallatil urooqo, wa thabatal ajro Insha Allah.)

Your Statements: …..Because the two lines of Iftar dua - Allahuma inni laka sumto wa bika amanto,wa alayika tawakkalto,wa ala`a rizkika aftarto is also mentioned in the Motayas salwaat dua.

Respected sister in Islam, it should come as absolutely no surprise that the ‘actual’ worships and supplications made by the Noble Messenger of Allah (saws) are included in the additionally self-formulated worships and supplications invented by the people and sects which have digressed from the true teachings of Islam……for that is the only way for them to add authenticity to their inventions and their innovations which they have tirelessly added to the pure teachings of Islam!

If one takes even a mere and cursory look at the modus-operandi of all such misguided sects, one would realize the number of additions (and honestly burdens) they have added to the pure and perfect deen of Islam with their self-invented innovations….

  1. The Messenger of Allah (saws) declared five pillars of Islam…..the misguided sect invented two more without any authority and declared seven pillars in Islam!
  2. Allah Subhanah Commanded His slaves to observe fast in the month of Ramadan…..the misguided sects encouraged their followers to observe fasts the whole month of Rajab in addition to Ramadan, when such a worship was not endorsed by Allah and His Messenger (saws)!
  3. Allah and His Messenger (saws) specifically forbade the believers to undertake any special travel for worship except to the three Holy Masjids (in Makkah, in Madinah, and in Jerusalem)…..the misguided sects encourage their followers to pay their respects to the graves, shrines, and tombs of innumerable places of worship!!!
  4. Allah Subhanah and His Messenger (saws) time and time again guide the believers to hold fast to the Guidance of the Glorious Quran…..the misguided sects encourage their followers to study and follow every man-made book from their scholars rather than accept the simple Guidance of the Glorious Quran!
  5. The ‘raza’ for every religious rite and function; the self-invented ‘washeqs’ or long prayers; the demands of ‘khums’ from the believers, the ‘wajebaat’, the ‘salaams’, the ‘nazrul-maqaams’, etc.; the commemorations of Muharram, of ‘Shabe-Baraat’, the various ‘Milaads’ and ‘Urs’, the ‘misaak’, the ‘sadakallah’ and all its adjoining rasms at a funeral, etc….i can just go on and on and on regarding the self-invented innovations and burdens which the misguided sects have added to the pure and perfect deen brought by the Messenger of Allah (saws)!!!!!

Respected sister in Islam, the deen of Islam brought by the Messenger of Allah (saws) is straight forward and simple to follow……it is all these self-invented and self-imposed additions and innovations by the unscrupulous and self-declared ‘holy men’ which burden the believers to a point whereby one is overwhelmed by the plethora of self-invented rites and rituals, and is forced by the burdens to leave even the essentials of the deen!!!! Then a time comes upon them when they are unable to differentiate which amongst the Commands and the Guidance are from Allah and His Messenger (saws) and which amongst them are self-invented innovations that were added to the deen after the death of the Noble Prophet Mohamed (saws)!!!!!

A ‘bida’ or innovation is something which is invented, innovated, and added to the deen of Islam after the deen was completed on Prophet Mohamed (saws). It especially concerns the rites and rituals of worship, or any deed which was not performed or endorsed by the Messenger of Allah (saws), but was added as a part of the ‘deen’ after his (saws’s) death. It also concerns any innovated deed which one does and believes that by doing this innovated deed, he is eligible to earn more reward from Allah Subhanah.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzab verse 21:

There is indeed the best example for you to follow in the Messenger of Allah, for every such person looks forward to Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.

Respected sister in Islam, it is the solemn belief of every true believer who sincerely fears Allah and the Last Day, that there was, is, or never will be anyone in the annuls of creation who loved, feared, and worshipped Allah Subhanah more or better than the Noble Last and Final Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws)!

Thus if anyone dares to come up with any act of worship like a celebration, or a commemoration, or prescribes importance to any prayer, or fast, or night or day, or invents, innovates, or adds anything in the deen of Islam which is not endorsed by the Noble Prophet (saws), then it implies one of three things:

  • that the person who claims that worship is due on this specific night in this specific way loves and worships Allah more than the Noble Prophet (saws)!!!
  • or, that the person knows more than the Noble Prophet (saws)!!!
  • or, that the person has received revelations from Allah Subhanah after the death of the Prophet Mohamed (saws)!!!

Allah is our witness sister, if anyone in the annuls of creation ever claims to have any of the above three qualities is nothing more than a confirmed and manifest liar!; for Allah is our witness, no man in the annuls of creation feared, loved, or worshipped their Lord more than Prophet Mohamed (saws), no man in the annuls of creation had more knowledge of the Truth than the Noble Prophet Mohamed (saws), and Allah is our witness, the Last and Final Revelations of The Lord Most Majestic were revealed on Prophet Mohamed (saws), and there is none who will or can receive revelations after him (saws)!

If one brings, invents, adds or innovates any act or deed in religion which has not been specifically endorsed by Allah and His Messenger (saws), then it has to be a ‘bida’ (innovation in the religion after the deen was completed on Prophet Mohamed (saws)), and Allah is our witness, every innovation in the deen of Islam is an error and a grievous sin in the Sight of Allah Subhanah!

Sahih Muslim Hadith 1885 Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah

That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said in a sermon: “The best speech is that which is embodied in the Book of Allah, the Al Quran; and the best guidance is the guidance given by me, Mohamed (saws). The most evil affairs are the innovations (bida), and every innovation (bida) is an error.”

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4515 Narrated by Ali ibn AbuTalib

That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said: “If anyone introduces an innovation (bida in religion), he will be responsible for it. If anyone introduces an innovation (bida) or gives shelter to a man who introduces an innovation (bida), he is cursed by Allah, by His Angels, and by all the people!”

The absolute first thing a believer should determine before doing anything which concerns any aspect of religion, or concerns any rite or ritual of religion, etc……is to determine whether the act is endorsed by Allah and His Messenger (saws).

If the act is endorsed by Allah and His Messenger (saws); then it obviously is part of the deen and one should wholeheartedly indulge oneself into it; but if the act is not endorsed by Allah and His Messenger (saws), then it is obvious that such a thing can only be a manifestation of the abomination of ‘bida’ or innovation, and it must immediately be rejected by those who sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day.

Respected sister in Islam, in all sincerity and humility I apologize for the long response to your simple question regarding the proper supplication to be made at the time of breaking of one’s fast…..but as the issue is obviously much bigger than whether or not one should recite a supplication made by the Messenger of Allah (saws) or give preference to the supplication formulated by someone other than the Messenger of Allah (saws), which prompted our long response.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
