Image hands eyes of Allah.
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Salam Alaikum
Brother,
Please explain this hadith
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abu Huraira and in the
hadith transmitted on the authority of Ibn Hatim Allah`s Apostle (may peace be
upon him) is reported to have said : When any one of you fights with his
brother, he should avoid his face for Allah created Adam in His own image.
Does it mean Adam (PBUH) are look like Allah ?
Allah has any image or body ?
According to Jews and christians that Adam was created in the image of Allah ,
what is different believe b/w Jews and Christian to Muslim in the image of
Allah concept ?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling
errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from
questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in
confidentiality.)
Answer:
Image hands eyes of
Allah
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4478 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
The Prophet (saws) said: ‘When one of you
inflicts a beating, he should avoid striking the face.’
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.734 Narrated by Abu Huraira
The Prophet (saws) said, "If somebody
fights (or beats somebody) then he should avoid the face."
Although the scholars and jurists in Islam accept the
first part of the hadith whereby the Messenger of Allah (saws) forbade the
believers to strike another’s face in a fight, the vast majority of the
scholars and jurists have voiced their opinion against the authenticity of the
report by Ibn Hatim which states that Allah Subhanah created Adam in His own
image….And Allah Alone Knows Best.
Your
Question: Does it mean Adam (PBUH) are look like Allah ? Allah has any image or
body ?
Allah says
in the Holy Quran Chapter 42 Surah Ash-Shura verse 11:
There is Absolutely nothing like Him (Allah)
in the whole Universe!!! He is
the All-Hearing, The All-Seeing!! To Him Alone belong the keys of the treasures
of the heavens and the earth!!
Allah says in Chapter 112, Surah Ikhlas Verse
1-4
Say: He is Allah, the One and Only. Allah is
Independent of all, and all are dependent on Him. Neither has He any offspring,
nor is He the offspring of anyone; and NONE is equal to Him in rank.
Allah Subhanah is the Absolute Unique, One, and Only; and
without an iota of a doubt, there is absolutely nothing quite like Him in the
Whole Universe! Thus to believe that the
Lord Most High, Most Supreme has any image or body, or that man or Prophet Adam
(a.s.) resembles Allah Subhanah would be absolutely incorrect to say the
least!.....for there is absolutely nothing like the Lord Most Majestic in the
Whole Universe!
Although Allah Subhanah declares several times in the Holy
Quran in Truth that He Sees everything,
He Hears everything, and even
mentions His Right Hand, etc.; the exact
nature of these is absolutely beyond human comprehension! For the believers, who are commanded to and truly believe in
Allah Subhanah and the Last Day in the ‘unseen’, it should suffice to believe
in exactly what is declared by Allah and His Messenger (saws), and believe that Allah Subhanah Sees as suits
His Majesty and Might, Hears as suits
His Magnificience and Power, and His Hands suit His Incomparable Glory,
Majesty, and Perfection!
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah
Zumar verse 67:
No just estimate have they made of Allah such as
is due to Him: on the Day of Judgement
the whole of the earth will be but His Handful,
and the heavens will be rolled up in His Right Hand: Glory to Him! High is He above the partners
they attribute to Him!
Allah forbid, we should
add, subtract, or ascribe from ourselves any form, shape, image, physical
organs, or compare the Incomparable Lord
to anything in existence!
Your
Question: According to Jews and christians that Adam was created in the image
of Allah , what is different believe b/w Jews and Christian to Muslim in the
image of Allah concept ?
….Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let
them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the
livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the
ground. So God created man in his
own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female He
created them. (The
Bible, Book of Genesis.1:26-27).
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 32 Surah
Sajdah verse 9:
But He (Allah) fashioned him (Adam (a.s.)) in
due proportion and breathed into him something of His Spirit. And He gave you (the faculties of) hearing,
and sight, and feeling (and
understanding): little thanks do ye
give!
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 15 Surah
Hijr verses 28-29:
28 Behold! Thy Lord said to
the Angels: "I am about to create man from sounding clay, from mud molded into shape;
29 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion), and
breathed into him of My Spirit;
fall ye down in prostration unto him."
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 82 Surah
Infitaar verses 6-8:
6 O
man! What has seduced thee from thy
Lord, Most Beneficent?
7 Him, Who created thee, fashioned thee in due proportion, and
gave thee a just bias;
8 In
whatever Form He Wills, does He put thee together.
The Bible does state that God created man in His Own
image; but the Glorious Quran declares in Truth that Allah Subhanah fashioned
man in due proportion as He Willed and breathed into man something of His ‘Rooh’
(Spirit), and bestowed the faculties of hearing, sight and understanding unto
man.
To ascribe any form, shape, or image of the Absolutely Incomparable
Lord would be absolutely against the guidance and teachings of Islam.
If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and
commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),
one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any
other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be
assured of being led astray.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
