Answer:

Numbers of Tawaf

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The 'tawaaf' of the Kaaba is done is multiples of seven rounds; thus seven rounds of the Kaaba will constitute one 'tawaaf'.   Depending on the type of Hajj one intends to perform (Ifraad, Qiraan, or Tamattu), the number of 'tawaafs' one is required to do will differ.

The most common type of Hajj, especially for pilgrims who come from overseas is the Hajj Tamattu, whereby one takes the opportunity to perform the Umrah before the Hajj.  For Hajj Tamattu, one would be required to perform the 'tawaaf' on the following three occasions:

1. When performing the Umrah.

2. On the Day of Eid or what is called the 'Tawaaf-e-Ifada' or the 'Tawaaf of Hajj'.

3. The 'Tawaaf-ul-wida' when one is leaving Makkah for their hometown.

The above are the list of 'tawaafs' one is required to do to fulfill the rites of the Umrah and Hajj pilgrimage.  But if one intends to perform voluntary 'tawaafs', there is absolutely no limit.  One is at absolute liberty to perform as many 'tawaafs' of the Kaaba as one wills and pleases.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
