Pendant with Allahs name and Fish hallal

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

AOA, I have two questions:

1) I would like to know if there is anything wrong with wearing an Allah pendant?

2) A friend asked me why fish is always hallal. I could not give an answer

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Pendant with Allah’s name and Fish hallal

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Q-1) I would like to know if there is anything wrong with wearing an Allah pendant?

There is no harm in wearing a pendant, with the name ‘Allah’ on it. But one must be careful and respect this blessed name, and abstain from wearing this pendant when one goes to an unclean place like the toilet, bathrooms, etc.

Besides, there is no particular ‘ajr’ or reward for wearing a pendant with the name of Allah on it; and also there is absolutely no evidence that any of the wives, daughters or the women companions of the Prophet (saws) ever wore one.

Q-2) A friend asked me why fish is always hallal. I could not give an answer.

Only Allah and His Messenger (saws) have the right to declare a thing haraam or halaal for the believers. Fish, or any animal of the sea is halaal for the believers as food, because the Messenger of Allah (saws) specifically declared it halaal. He (saws) said in an authentic narration that even the dead of the sea is halaal for the believers.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
