Answer:

Was Mary a virgin?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 66 Surah Tahrim verse 12: And Mary, the daughter of `Imran, who guarded her chastity; and We breathed into her (body) of Our spirit; and she testified to the Truth of the Words of her Lord and of His Revelations, and was one of the devout (Servants).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah Maryam verses 16-22:

16 Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.

17 She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them: then We sent to her Our Angel and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.

18 She said: "I seek refuge from thee to (Allah) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah."

19 He said: "Nay I am only a messenger from thy Lord (to announce) to thee the gift of a holy son."

20 She said: "How shall I have a son seeing that no man has touched me, and I am not unchaste?"

21 He said: "So (it will be): thy Lord saith `That is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us': it is a matter (so) decreed."

22 So she conceived him (Jesus), and she retired with him to a remote place.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.643 Narrated by Abu Musa Al Ashari

The Prophet (saws) said, " Many men reached the level of perfection, but no woman reached such a level except Maryam, the daughter of Imran, and Asiya, the wife of Pharaoh."

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.641 Narrated by Said bin Al Musaiyab

Abu Huraira said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) saying, 'There is none born among the off-spring of Adam, but Satan touches it. A child therefore, cries loudly at the time of birth because of the touch of Satan, except Maryam and her child."

Allah Subhanah Himself has guaranteed the chastity of Hadrat Maryam (a.s.) in the Glorious Quran! A muslim is not a muslim if he does not consider Hadrat Maryam (a.s.) to be a chaste and a virgin woman, who gave birth to one of the mightiest Prophets of Allah Subhanah, Prophet Isa (a.s.) without any male intervention.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
