Perform hajj with father.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother Burhan,

Assalamualaikum.I would like to ask you a question regarding hajj as I made a promise that I will perform the hajj this year. But the complication in my life has arise  since  and now I am a bit worried weather I am strong enough to perform the hajj this year.

I am born as a Muslim and my husband was a Christian who later converted to perform the marriage. As he is surely very new to the religion, he thinks it will be too early for him to go for the hajj .Now my questions are as followed:

1. Can I go ahead with the hajj with my father ,who is willing to accompany me ?

2. I live in the UK ,and will be applying for the visa alone from here. whereas, my father and mother will be getting theirs from Bangladesh. Is it possible for me to get the Hajj visa f(as I will be applying alone)?

Thank you. Hoping to hear from you soon.

Answer:

Perform hajj with father

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Q-1: Can I go ahead with the hajj with my father ,who is willing to accompany me ?

There is absolutely no obligation or compulsion in Islam that a believing woman can perform her obligatory pilgrimage of Hajj only with her husband. If for any reason whatsoever one’s husband is unable to accompany her to perform her Hajj pilgrimage, the sister is at liberty to perform her Hajj with any of her male ‘mehram’ relatives (her father, her brother, her son, her uncle, etc.)

Q-2: I live in the UK ,and will be applying for the visa alone from here. whereas, my father and mother will be getting theirs from Bangladesh. Is it possible for me to get the Hajj visa f(as I will be applying alone)?

Respected sister in Islam, the obtaining of a visa or permit to perform the Hajj is a directive or condition of the current Saudi Arabian government and absolutely nothing to do with Shariah Law or the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah!

We obviously are not aware of the ‘visa’ laws of the government of Saudi Arabia; the best people who could help you are the appointed ‘agents’ of the Saudi Embassy in the country you reside in, who arrange all the legal formalities for the pilgrims.
