Questions from quran

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Q-1: Who was the young Muslim General who opened the Indian subcontinent to Islam?

History records the first Muslim general who opened the Indian subcontinent to Islam was Mohamed bin Qasim from the Banu Saqeef tribe of Taif.

Q-2: What is a lesser Hajj known as?

The ‘lesser Hajj’ is known in Islamic Jurisprudence or Fiqh as ‘Umrah’.

Q-3: In which modern day country can the remains of the people of Saleh (AS) be found?
The place or area where the Noble Prophet Saleh (a.s.) was initially sent and the people rejected his warnings and his guidance, and were subsequently annihilated by the Lord was the area some distance north of the city of Madinah on the way to Tabuk. Although there are several opinions and claims, where exactly Prophet Saleh (a.s.) and the believers went after the destruction, or where exactly was the Noble Prophet Saleh (a.s.) finally buried is not authentically known or documented.

Q-4: Surat Al Kahf relates the story of a pious king and traveller who travelled both the East and West. What was his name or title?

The name or rather title of this pious king as mentioned in Surah Kahf by Allah Subhanah is ‘Dhul Qarnayn’, meaning ‘the one with two horns’.

Q-5: Who from amongst the Prophets has been mentioned most times in the Qur'aan?

The Prophet whose name finds the most mention in the Glorious Quran is the Noble Prophet and Messenger of Allah, Musa (a.s.).

Q-6: Who was the leader of the hypocrites in Madina?

The name of the leader of the hypocrites in Madinah was Abdullah in Ubayy.

Q-7: Name the surah in the Qur'aan which tells the story of a pious king who travelled East and West?
The story of the pious king who traveled east and west is related in the Glorious Quran in Chapter 18 Surah Kahf.

Q-8: How many years did the companions of the cave sleep?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 18 Surah Kahf verses 25-26:

25 So they stayed in their Cave three hundred years, and (some) add nine (more).

26 Say: "Allah knows best how long they stayed.’

The generally accepted tradition from the times was that the ‘companions of the cave’ stayed in their caves for a period of three hundred (solar) years or three-hundred and nine (lunar) years …. The All-Knowing Lord Most Majestic guides the believers to abstain from conjecture and declare that Allah Subhanah Alone Knows exactly how long the companions of the cave stayed in the cave.

Q-9: The Qur'aan mentions two Prophets whose wives will enter hellfire. Who are these Prophets?
In light of the Guidance of the Glorious Quran, the wives of the Noble Prophet Nuh (a.s.) and the Noble Prophet Lut (a.s.) will be condemned to the Hell Fire in the Hereafter.

Q-10: Who was Maryam (Mary) the daughter of?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verses 35-36:

35 Behold! A woman of Imraan said: "O my Lord! I do dedicate unto thee what is in my womb for Thy special service, so accept this of me for Thou Hearest and Knowest all things."

36 When she was delivered she said: "O my Lord! Behold! I am delivered of a female child!" And Allah knew best what she brought forth, and nowise is the male like the female. ‘I have named her Maryam and I commend her and her offspring to Thy protection from the Shaytaan, the rejected."

In light of the guidance of the above quoted verses of the Glorious Quran, the name of Hadrat Maryam’s father was Imraan.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
