One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Assalam
Alaikum
my
question is that is there any salat which has to be offered before nikah which
is intended for nikah. what is minimum and maximum time between which walima
can be held. Can walima be held on same day of nikah

Answer:
Time limit Walima
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Question: my
question is that is there any salat which has to be offered before nikah which
is intended for nikah.
To the best of our knowledge, there is absolutely nothing
in the established and authentic Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws) which
requires a believer to offer any specific kind of prayer before one’s nikaah
ceremony.
Your Question: what
is minimum and maximum time between which walima can be held.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.395 Narrated by Anas
The Prophet (saws) seeing a yellow mark (of
perfume) on the clothes of 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Auf, said, "What about
you?" 'Abdur-Rahman replied,
"I have married a woman with a Mahr of gold equal to a date-stone."
The Prophet (saws) said, "May Allah bestow His Blessing on you (in your
marriage). Give a wedding banquet, (Walima) even with one sheep."
The main wisdom behind holding a ‘walima’ or wedding
banquet is to announce to the society one lives in that one has honored and
legally married the woman, and thus she is absolutely off-limits to anyone
seeking her hand in marriage.
There is so specific time limit ordained in the Sunnah for
one to offer one’s ‘walima’ after one’s marriage; but wisdom dictates that one
should offer this Sunnah and hold one’s wedding banquet as soon as possible or
is easy for him to do so.
Your Question: Can
walima be held on same day of nikah
The ‘walima’ or wedding feast can be held anytime after
one’s nikaah ceremony; and it is preferable that one fulfills this Sunnah as
soon as possible. If one wishes to offer
one’s ‘walima’ on the same day as one’s nikaah, there is absolutely no harm and
no restriction.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s
Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.

Islam,
