Do you have Female Scholars?

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brothers Salams

1) If a girl want to ask the Question , i mean to say is some kind of female questions, are there any women scholars in your team ?? 2) When a question is asked from you & one or more of your scholar's reply, why don't you write the name of that scholars? If you do that at least when we are telling to some person about that we can at least refere that name of that Scholar ( i.e we got this answer from this scholar)?? please reply.

3) Why do u always think that a brother is asking you a question, Why not a sister??

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

ANSWER:

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and who-ever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The Holy Quran is a book of guidance for both, men and women. You are welcome to ask any questions, relating to whatever gender, and Insha Allah, we will try and answer your questions giving you evidence from the Quran and Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah(saws). And we would like to assure you that we have access to women scholars in Islam, who will Insha Allah be able to address your questions.

This is a good suggestion and we have absolutely no problems in writing the scholars name with the answers. The reason we don’t is that the brothers and sisters who help us in formulating these answers from the Quran and Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws), render this service for the sole Pleasure of Allah Subhanah, and get no material or any other sort of reward from the forum. It is their opinion, that if their names were mentioned, it would make no difference to the authenticity of the answers, as the only reference one needs is the reference of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws). Thus by inscribing their names, they fear that maybe one would think that they are trying to make a name for themselves in this world. Besides, it makes absolutely no difference which scholar answers the questions, because if they use the same source: ie. The Quran and the authentic narrations of the Messenger of Allah (saws), all the scholars will have the same opinion.

Your comment: Why do u always think that a brother is asking you a question, Why not a sister??

The truth is that we receive questions from both our brothers as well as our sisters in Islam, and when we say ‘a brother has asked this question’, we mean to include both our brothers and sisters in the statement.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 49 Surah Hujurat verse 10: The believers are brothers of one another; so set the relations right between your brothers and fear Allah. It is expected that you will be shown mercy.

In Islam, when the general term brother is used, it means to include both the brothers and sisters in Islam. Likewise, in the above aayah, when Allah says, that the believers are brothers to one another, it also means that the believing women are sisters to one another, and the believing woman is a sister of a believing man in faith.

Anyways, we will be careful in the future and try and specify when we write our answers, that either a brother or a sister has asked a question, Insha Allah.

And Allah Alone knows Best, and He is the Only Source of Strength.

May Allah guide you and us all to the Siraat al-Mustaqeem

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
