Brother in law right to interfere.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

As salaam Wailuku,

I came to know about this site recently, there is no doubt you doing a great job, by showing the right way to most of the Muslims.

In return allah will pay you the best reward for your service. Please help me what islam says about my problem.

We are 4 bros elder two of them got married, and two sis got married. We use to take decisions collectively. Now for 4 years our elder bro-in-law Interfiors in our decisions the small decision about family, not about property issues , putting my sister after him or taking her pretext.

He wants himself to consider him as a member of the family and as he is elder bro-in-law from all us, want himself to treat him as elder person and must involve in every small decisions , moreover my elder brother prefers him as our bro-in-law is cousin of my brother`s wife.

As I think that how we maintains our family is upon on us I don’t, deny that he is our bro-in-law I am ready to serve him whenever he comes , but he should not intefior in our family issues. Thus he has the right to intefior are not .

please explain me in Islam’s vision.

Answer:

Brother in law right to interfere

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth. If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the Hell Fire. Ameen.

Your Question: Thus he has the right to intefior are not. please explain me in Islam’s vision.

A brother-in-law, regardless of his superiority in age or wisdom or anything else for that matter, is neither the guardian of the family of his spouse, nor has the inherent right to interfere in the decisions made by the family of his spouse, especially if his opinion and wisdom is not sought by the family members of his spouse.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
