One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

I have a question, may be I have studied it when I was a kid, I felt really very embarrassed when one of my gym mate ask me this question, he is non Muslim and is reading Koran.

His question is what is the hierarchy or link (I don’t know if I am using right term) with our prophet Mohammad with Prophet Abraham.

Family tree of prophet(saws)

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: His question is what is the hierarchy or link (I don’t know if I am using right term) with our prophet Mohammad with Prophet Abraham.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 22 Surah Hajj verse 78:

78 And (O you who believe) strive in His (Allah’s) Cause as ye ought to strive (with sincerity and under discipline): He has chosen you and has imposed no difficulties on you in religion; it is the cult of your father Ibraheem. It is He Who has named you ‘muslims’ both before and in this (Revelation); that the Messenger (Prophet Mohamed (saws)) may be a witness for you, and ye be witnesses for mankind! So establish regular prayer, give regular charity, and hold fast to Allah! He is your Protector; The Best to Protect and The Best to Help!

The Last and Final Messenger of Allah, Prophet Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws) is a direct descendant of the Noble Messenger of Allah, Prophet Ibraheem (a.s.).

Prophet Ibraheem (a.s.) was blessed by Allah Subhanah with two sons, both of whom were Prophets: the first-born was Prophet Ismail (a.s.) and the second-born was Prophet Ishaaq (a.s.).

From amongst the descendants of Prophet Ishaaq (a.s.) rose all the Prophets of the ‘Bani Israel’….namely, Prophet Yaqoob (a.s.), Prophet Yusuf (a.s.), Prophet Musa (a.s.), Prophet Haroon (a.s.), Prophet Dawood (a.s.), Prophet Sulaimaan (a.s.), Prophet Ayyub (a.s.), Prophet Yunus (a.s.), Prophet Zakariyah (a.s.), Prophet Yahya (a.s.), Prophet Isa ibn Maryam (a.s.), etc.

And from amongst the descendants of the first born of Prophet Ibraheem (a.s.), Prophet Ismail (a.s.), rose the Last and Final Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws).

Thus in essence all the current monotheistic religions…namely: Judaism, Christianity and Islam find their origin from their fore-father, Prophet Ibraheem (a.s.).
