Pls explain in details that the parents duty to thr child.

What are the names that we should not give to our babies (Islamic names)

for ex. Firdous, jannath, or a combine name with firdous like "yasmeen firdours" etc..


And also could you pls explain in details that the parents duty to thr child (boy and girl). what i want to know , at what age we need to perform certain duties like


- Age to start his paryer

- Age to performance of HAJ

- Age to Fasting

- Age to Keep child away from our bed

- Age to start giving him islamic education

- Age to have circumcision rites

- Any other duty that parents need to perform (Haqiqah)

Age parents responsibility towards children

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

 

Your Question: What are the names that we should not give to our babies

Beloved brother in Islam, a name assigned to each individual is no more than a sign or recognition of that person; and there is absolutely no obligation or compulsion in Shariah that a believer is obliged or required to give their children a ‘traditional’ Islamic or muslim name. One is at complete liberty to assign any good wholesome name to their off-spring in absolutely any language they will or please.

 

The only names which Islam prohibits from assigning to a believer are names which connote or denote polytheism or disbelief (Abdul-Lat, Abdul-Uzza, (slaves of the pagan gods like Lat and Uzza, etc.) or names like Ramdas (slave of the Hindu god Ram), etc.; or names which have an inherit evil or vile meaning.

 

Other than names which connote polytheism and disbelief, or names which have an inherently evil meaning….Islam has allowed the believers the complete freedom to chose and assign any good wholesome name in any language they will and please.

 

Your Question: for ex. Firdous, jannath, or a combine name with firdous like "yasmeen firdours"

Firdaus’ is the name of the absolute highest grade and rank of Paradise, and ‘Yasmeen’ literally means the Jasmine flower; both are perfectly good names, whether assigned individually or together; and absolutely acceptable to be given to a new born if one wishes to do so.

Hadrat Ali ibn Abi Talib (r.a.) reported that the Prophet (saws) said: "The pen is raised for three groups [of people]—(that is, they will not be responsible for their actions): the insane until they become sane, those who are sleeping until they awaken, and the young until they reach the age of puberty."

Related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and at-Tirmidhi.

 

Although it is not obligatory for a child to pray, it is a must that their parents/guardians encourage them to offer their prayers from an early age, order them to pray regularly when they are about seven years of age, and strictly enforce them to offer their prayers when they reach the age of ten.

 

Amr ibn Shu'aib related from his father on the authority of his grandfather that the Prophet (saws) said, "Order your children to pray when they reach the age of seven. Beat them (if they don't pray) when they reach the age of ten. And have them sleep separately."

Related by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and al-Hakim.

Ibn Abbas (r.a.) reports: "The Prophet (saws) said: 'Any minor (child) who performs Hajj must perform it again after coming of age.’"

Related by At-Tabarani.

 

As-Sa'ib bin Yazid (r.a.) says: "My father performed Hajj with the Prophet (saws) who was performing his Farewell Hajj, while I was only seven years old."

Related by Ahmad, Bukhari and Tirmidhi, who noted: "All scholars agree that if a minor performs Hajj, he must repeat his Hajj upon coming of age.”

 

Hadrat Umar (r.a.) and Ibn Abbas (r.a.) both reported that during a Hajj a woman lifted a boy, and asked the Prophet (saws), "Will this boy be rewarded for Hajj?" The Prophet (saws) answered: "Yes, and you too will be rewarded." (The boy will be rewarded for his obedience, while the mother will be rewarded for helping and instructing him to perform Hajj.)

 

There is absolutely no harm if one wishes to take their young children below the age of puberty along with them to the Hajj pilgrimage, but because they have not yet reached the age of puberty, they will be considered a minor in Shariah; and they would have to perform their obligatory Hajj again when they reach adulthood. But there is absolutely no harm and no restriction in Shariah if one wishes to take their minor children to the Hajj or Umrah pilgrimage with them.

Though the young below the age of puberty are not required to fast, it is proper for their parents/guardians to encourage them to fast so they will become accustomed to the worship of fasting from early age. They may fast as long as they are able to and then may break it.

Ar-Rabi'a bint Mu'awiyyah reported: "The Messenger of Allah (saws) sent a man, on the morning of the day of Ashurah to the residences of the Ansar, saying: 'Whoever has spent the morning fasting is to complete his fast. Whoever has not spent this morning fasting should fast for the remainder of the day.' We fasted after that announcement, as did our young children. We would go to the mosque and make toys stuffed with cotton for them to play with. If one of them started crying due to hunger, we would give them a toy to play with until it was time to eat."

Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

 

One may encourage their children to fast from the age they have some basic understanding (like 7-8 years), and if the parents find that it is difficult for their child to remain hungry and thirsty for the whole period of the fast, there is absolutely no harm if they encourage them to observe their fast only till the ‘dhuhr’ or ‘asr’ time.

 

Like all other acts of worship in Islam, fasting would become obligatory upon the child only when they reach the age of puberty.

Although one may very well train their children to sleep separately whenever they wish, once they reach the age of 10 years, the boys and girls must be ordered to sleep absolutely separate from each other.

The parents should strive to start giving their children basic ‘Islamic’ education from an extremely early age, or as soon as the children is able to talk or form a sentence. They should be trained in basic etiquettes of Islam like saying the Islamic greetings of ‘Salaam Alaykum’, saying ‘Alhamdolillah’ when they sneeze, saying ‘Bismillah’ when they start eating or drinking anything, etc.

 

Also it would be extremely prudent to start teaching them some phrases which Extol and Praise Allah Subhanah, short Surahs from the Glorious Quran, some supplications from the Quran and the Sunnah, etc. as soon as they have reached the age of basic understanding, which would be between 3-5 years of age.

Although Islam has not specified a particular age or number of days after birth the circumcision of the baby boy should be performed, it is best done during the age of infancy or at an early age. Since Islam has not specified a specific time limit for the Sunnah of circumcision, one may have it done as early as one’s birth or delay it till later as one wishes or is easy for them.

 

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.575 Narrated by Abu Huraira

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "Prophet Ibrahim (a.s.) did his circumcision with an ‘adze’ (a cutting instrument of the times) at the age of eighty (years)."

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 2832 Narrated by Samurah ibn Jundub

The Prophet (saws) said: ‘A child is in pledge for his ‘Aqiqah’, sacrifice is made for it on the seventh day, its head is shaved, and it is given a name.’

 

It is a preferred Sunnah to offer the Aqiqa sacrifice on the 7th day of the birth of the child; but if for any reason one is unable to offer it on the 7th day and wishes to offer it later, it is expected that his sacrifice will be accepted by the Lord Most Merciful.

 

The Aqiqa sacrifice is not obligatory or ‘fard’ in Islam; but rather it is a preferred Sunnah and voluntary. If one does offer this sacrifice as a form of gratitude to his Merciful Creator for the gift of the child which The Lord Most Gracious has bestowed upon them, there is a huge reward, and if one does not offer it for any reason, there is no sin.

 

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
