Help me in locating the Hadith? If this Hadith is weak or does not exists.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

As Salam Alaikum!

I have heard a hadith from one of the ulema, this is what I remember:

Once Umar Ibn al-Khattab radihallah was standing outside in the heat (middle of the day), outside his house. A sahbee passing by questioned him "O Ameer-ul-Momuneen, what are you doing standing here? Then he replied, his wife went next door to for Iyadath (Some neighbour was sick) and my daughter is alone. I(Umar) remember that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Avoid being alone with your daughter(s) when they are grown up".

Then the sahabi replies, there is also an hadith where the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "By Him in Whose Hands my life is! Never does Satan find you going on a way, but he takes another way other than yours."

Then Umar radihallah replied, I donot want to cntradict on a hadith that was said on me to the one with prophet may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

Can you please help me in locating the Hadith? If this Hadith is weak or does not exists, please let me know so that I can correct myself and ask forgiveness from Allah and also with my friend.

Jazak Allah Khair!

Answer:

Alone with mehram

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: Can you please help me in locating the Hadith? If this Hadith is weak or does not exists, please let me know so that I can correct myself and ask forgiveness from Allah and also with my friend.

Dear and beloved brother in Islam, to the best of our knowledge there is absolutely no record of such a hadith in the authentic and established Sunnah whereby the Messenger of Allah guided the believers to abstain from being alone in the company of their own daughter (or any mehram for that matter)!

There are several records in the authentic Sunnah and the Seerah of the Prophet (saws) whereby he (saws) would visit the home of his beloved daughter Hadrat Fatimah (r.a.), and sit and talk and eat in her company alone.

Shariah Law does not at all prohibit or discourage a father from spending time alone with their own daughter or any other ‘mehram’ female relative of theirs, if they wish and choose to do so.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
