Answer:

Music hadiths

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Beloved Sister, although the Quran is silent regarding the specific issue of indulging in illegal music, Allah Subhanah guides towards the general abstinence towards any and all vain, idle, futile, useless, fruitless, and worthless deeds and according to the guidance of the Messenger of Allah (saws) the indulging in illegal music is an absolutely useless deed and specifically prohibited.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 28 Surah Qasas verse 55:

55 And when they (the believers) hear ‘vain talk’ they turn away therefrom and say: "To us our deeds and to you yours; peace be to you: we seek not the ignorant.”

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 69:

69 As in the case of those before you: they were mightier than you in power and more flourishing in wealth and children. They had their enjoyment of their portion: and ye have of yours as did those before you; and ye indulge in idle talk as they did. They!; Their works are fruitless in this world, and in the hereafter and they will lose (all spiritual good).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 23 Surah Muminoon verses 1-4:

1 The Believers must (eventually) win through

2 Those who humble themselves in their prayers;

3 Who avoid vain talk;

4 Who are active in deeds of charity;

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah Furqaan verse 72:

72 (The servants of Allah are) Those who witness no falsehood, and if they (happen to) pass by futility they pass by it with honorable (avoidance);

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 74 Surah Mudhadhthir verses 41-45:

41 And (ask) of the Sinners:

42 "What led you into Hell-Fire?"

43 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed;"

44 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent;"

45 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers;"

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.494B Narrated by Abu Amir

that he heard the Prophet (saws) saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of (illegal) musical instruments, as lawful.”

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3654 Narrated by Abu Umamah

The Prophet (saws) said, "Allah has sent me as a Mercy to the universe and as a guidance to the universe, and my Lord, Who is Great and Glorious, has commanded me to annihilate stringed instruments, wind instruments, idols, crosses and pre-Islamic customs. My Lord, Who is Great and Glorious has sworn, 'By My might, none of My servants will drink a mouthful of wine without My giving him a similar amount of pus to drink, but he will not abandon it through fear of Me without My giving him drink from the holy tanks.'"

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3153 Narrated by Muhammad ibn Hatib al-Jumahi

The Prophet (saws) said, "The distinction between what is lawful and what is unlawful is the song and the tambourine at a wedding."

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4909 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud

I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) say: ‘Singing produces hypocrisy in the hearts’.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
