In the name of Allah, The Most Gracious & Merciful

Dear Brother Burhan, Salaam alei kum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barkatuh

He has only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and any (food) over which the name of other than God has been invoked. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Refering to the above aayaah can we consume hindu`s prasad/mithai What if the farmer plants fruits and vegetables and invokes idols names before plantation. Is the food halaal to consume.

Answer:

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Q-1: Refering to the above aayaah can we consume hindu`s prasad/mithai

There is absolutely no harm if a believer eats the sweets or ‘mithai’ made or produced by a Hindu; provided that the sweets or mithai are not of the offerings they have made to their gods! If any person, be they Hindu, Christian, Jews, or even Muslims, etc.; if they offer any food which they have dedicated to the name of their gods, or idols, or graves, or anything other than Allah Subhanah; that would be forbidden as food for the believers.

The ‘prasad’ is typically a sweet or food that is dedicated to the Hindu gods or idols, and is distributed in the name of their gods; thus this ‘prasad’ is absolutely forbidden for the believers to consume.

Q-2: What if the farmer plants fruits and vegetables and invokes idols names before plantation. Is the food halaal to consume.

If a pagan farmer plants any form of fruits or vegetables, and even if he invokes his idol-god’s names before plantation; that food is permissible for the believers.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
