Answer:

Bless night shab e baraat

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

There is absolutely no evidence in the authentic Sunnah whereby the Messenger of Allah (saws) or his noble companions or family ever celebrated or commemorated the night of ‘Shabe-Baraat’, nor did he (saws) ever offer any special prayers on this night, nor did he (saws) ever command the believers to do anything special on this night!

It is the absolute unanimous opinion of all the good jurists and scholars in Islam that there is to be no special commemoration or celebration of the so-called ‘Shabe-Baraat’ night; and if anyone offers or ordains any special prayer or rite of worship especially for the commemoration of this night, it would be against the guidance and Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws); and thus a ‘bida’ or innovation in the perfect deen of Islam.

The absolutely biggest evidence of the non-importance or existence of the ‘Shabb-e-Baraat’ in Islam is the term itself! The very term ‘shabb’ is not an Arabic word but rather a ‘farsi’ or Iranian term which means ‘night’; and ‘baraat’ in Arabic means ‘to boycott’ or ‘destiny’. The fact that the term itself is half-Farsi half-Arabic signifies that this term was not used by the Messenger of Allah (saws) or his early companions, but rather was invented and innovated long after their deaths in the Indo-Pak region where ‘Farsi’ was the court or official language of the rulers for a long period of time!

Your Question: if shab e barat is a Bidaa` then what is Lailatul Mubaraka please conclude this

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 44 Surah Dukkhan verses 1-6:

1 Ha Mim.

2 By the Book (Al-Quran) that makes things clear

3 We sent it (The Quran) down during a ‘Layla tim-Mubarakah’ (Blessed Night): for We (ever) wish to warn (against evil).

4 In that (Night) is made distinct every affair of wisdom

5 by Command from Our presence. For We (ever) send (Revelations)

6 As a Mercy from thy Lord: for He Hears and Knows (all things);

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 97 Surah Al-Qadr verse 1:

1 We have indeed revealed this (Al-Quran) in the ‘Laylatul-Qadr’ (Night of Power).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 185:

185 Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Quran as a guide to mankind, also clear (Signs) for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong).

If one reads the above three verses in conjunction, one would immediately comprehend from these absolutely clear verses that Allah Subhanah started the Revelation of the Quran in the Blessed Month of Ramadan on the ‘Mubarak’ or Blessed Night of ‘Qadr’.

The night on which Allah Subhanah chose to start His Revelations of the Quran on His Last and Final Messenger (saws) is called the ‘Blessed Night’ (Layla tim-Mubarakah) and the ‘Night of Power’ (Laylatul Qadr). The ‘Laylatul-Qadr’ (Night of Power) and the ‘Layla tim-Mubarakah’ (Blessed Night) are two names of the very same night, and from the verse 185 of Surah Baqarah it is absolutely evident that Ramadan was the month during which the Quran was revealed, thus the ‘Layla tim-Mubarakah’ or ‘Laylatul Qadr’ has to be in the month of Ramadan.

How, why, or under what pretence or evidence have the ignorant assumed that the ‘Layla tim-Mubarakah’ or the blessed night when the Quran was revealed falls in the month of Shaabaan is beyond comprehension!!!

From the evidence of the verses of the Glorious Quran, it is absolutely evident and clear that the ‘Layla tim-Mubarakah’ and the ‘Laylatul Qadr’ are the names of the very same night when The Lord Most Gracious started the Revelation of the Quran; and the Glorious Quran was revealed by the Lord Most Merciful in the blessed month of Ramadan.

To assume that ‘Shab-e-Baraat’ falls on the 15th of Shabaan, or to assume that ‘Shab-e-Baraat’ is the same as the ‘Layla tim-Mubarakah’ when the Quran was revealed, is absolutely against the clear guidance of the Glorious Quran itself!

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
