Can one get married in the month of Safar?

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Salaam,

I heard that The prophet PBUH use to weep in the month of safar, and said that In this month evil powers lands on earth. Well I am plannig to get married in the month of April, and most probably in second week of april (mid safar). Is it good to get married in the month of safar?

Answer:

Can one get married in the month of Safar?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Statement: I heard that The prophet PBUH use to weep in the month of safar, and said that In this month evil powers lands on earth.

To the best of our knowledge there is absolutely nothing in the authentic narrations of the Prophet (saws) which states that the Prophet (saws) would specifically weep in the month of Safar, or that in this month the evil powers land on earth!

In the days of ignorance (before the appointment of the Prophet Mohamed (saws) as the Messenger of Allah (saws)), the pagans used to believe that the month of Safar would bring evil omens; but the Messenger of Allah (saws) made it absolutely clear that no day, no week, no month, and no year brings evil omens. Every day, every week, every month, every year, everything belongs to Allah Subhanah, and no evil can befall someone without the precise permission and Will of Allah Subhanah.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.608 Narrated by Abu Huraira

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, : (There is) no 'Adwa (no contagious disease is conveyed without Allah's permission), nor is there any bad omen (from birds), nor is there any Hamah, nor is there any bad omen in the month of Safar, and one should run away from the leper as one runs away from a lion.''

Your Question: Well I am plannig to get married in the month of April, and most probably in second week of april (mid safar). Is it good to get married in the month of safar?

Dear and Beloved Sister in Islam, every month is the month of Allah Subhanah, and there is absolutely nothing in the Quran and the Sunnah that would prevent the believers getting married in the month of Safar, if they wished to do so.

No day, no week, no month, no year, nothing has the power to bring about any evil….for All Power and All Strength is in the Absolute Control and Domain of Allah Subhanah Alone. Put your full trust and belief in the Power and Strength of Allah Subhanah and never ever fear a day or a month or anything in the universe to bring about an evil omen! If all the things in the universe got together and tried to harm someone, they would not be able to bring about any harm unless Allah Subhanah Wills it; and if all the things in the universe got together and tried to withhold His Mercy, they would not be able to withhold it in the least! Thus keep your full trust in Allah Subhanah Alone and fear none, except the One and Only Lord of the Worlds.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
