You claim that Shab-e-Baraat is just like any other night of the year and has no significance over other nights. Also, you claim that the Prophet (SAW) never celebrated this night or never did anything special. Can you please prove these claims before I decide to actually believe them or else I will just simply ignore you. Please reply ASAP.

Prophet never celebrated Shab-e-Barat

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

There is absolutely no record in the authentic books of narration, that the Messenger of Allah (saws), or his noble ‘ahle-bayt’, or his noble companions ever celebrated this particular night; nor is there a mention of the significance of Shab-e-Baraat over any other night of the year. The term ‘Shab-e-Baraat’ itself is not an Arabic term, but rather a ‘Shab’ is a Persian term meaning ‘night’!! Therefore, the proof is in the name itself, that this term and the celebration of ‘Shab-e-Baraat’ was not a practice of the Prophet (saws), because if it was, the name would have at least been an Arabic name!!!

Besides, the onus of the proof should be on the people who say that the Prophet (saws) celebrated this night in a particular way. Why don’t you give us the proof that this night with a Persian name ‘Shab-e-Baraat’, was celebrated by the Prophet (saws) in his lifetime, and how?

We can only produce the proof of what the Prophet (saws) did or said from the authentic narrations; not what he did not do!!! Thus, if anyone claims that the Prophet (saws) did something, then the onus should be on them to produce the proof.

We await the proof or ‘daleel’ from you that the Prophet (saws) indeed said or did something special to make the said night of ‘Shab-e-Baraat’ more significant than the other nights of the year.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
