Sea Food :Lobster and crab

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

I would like to know why fish does not need to be sacrificed in the name of Allah. In your response to "seafood -- halal or haram"  it states that we can eat of all "fresh flesh of the sea", does that also entail lobster and crab?  I was always told that these two are scavengers so therefore we can not eat them.  Why not?

Answer:

Sea Food :Lobster and crab

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Only Allah and His Messenger (saws) have the authority to declare something halaal or haraam for the believers. And the Messenger of Allah (saws) said in an authentic narration that even the dead of the sea animals, are halaal for the believers.

All the animals that primararily live in water, are halaal for the believers…whether they are caught alive, or dead. Lobsters and crabs primararily live in water, and are thus absolutely halaal for the believers as food.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
