Tell me about Dua Gunj ul Arsh, its origin and its history?

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamoalaikum,

Please could you tell me about Dua Gunj ul Arsh, its origin and its history ?

I am attaching some information about this dua for your perusal , please could you verify the authenticity of the details therein :

One day Sayyidina Rasuli Akram Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim was sitting in the Masjid and Hazrat Jibreel Alaihi Salaam brought this Dua' to Rasulullah Sall Allahu alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallim. The riwaaya of this Dua' is very long. The gist of the isnaad is given.

Hazrat Jibreel Alaihi Salaam said that in addition to a lot of Fadhaail [favors] in this Dua', the reciter gets three things from Allahu ta 'ala. Firstly, Allah Subhaana Hoo gives him rizq [livelihood] from the ghayb [unknown sources], and thirdly, whoever recites this Dua' his enemies will not be able to overcome him. He will be superior to them. The person who does jihad will have the upper hand. He goes on a journey, he will come back with all his things. He will be safe from the shaat of shaytaan na'oootho Billahi min ash shaytanir rajeem. He will be safe from all the bad things and insects and other things on earth and al the bad things in the skies. If a person writes this Dua' out and drinks it using rain water, he will get help for various diseases. If a person suffers from an unknown illness for which the worldly doctors can find no cure and he writes it [with permission of a True Shaykh or his Khalifa etc.] with Zafran [saffron] and washes it and drinks it for twenty one [21] days he will get health from that Bi Ithnillah. If he doesn't have children, he will get children with the help of this Dua'.

Once a criminal was to be beheaded. He was brought before the Sultan in Madinatul Munawwarah and given the death penalty. The executioner tried his sword three times but was unable to kill him. He then tried drowning him unsuccessfully. He tried several ways to kill him to no avail. The Sultan then asked the criminal why the executioner was unable to execute him. The criminal informed the Sultan that he had a Ta'weez, Dua Ganjul 'Arsh and that from the barakah of the Kalaam [words] of this Dua' Ganjul 'Arsh Allahu Subhaana Hoo was saving him. The ruler took this Ta'weez from him, freed him and used to recite Dua' Ganjul 'Arsh from that time on.

I would be grateful for this guidance.

Answer:

Dua gunj ul arsh

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Respected brother in Islam, there is not even an iota of evidence of truth in the above quoted incidents nor is there anything which even remotely resembles the supposed ‘dua gunj ul arsh’ in the authentic and established Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws)!!!

Because this ‘dua’ is neither originated nor endorsed by the Messenger of Allah (saws), we obviously have no idea or knowledge of its origin or its history…..and we absolutely assure you in the Blessed Name of the Lord Who Created: this ‘dua’ is the concoction of some ignorant mind and has absolutely nothing to do with the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws) or the Truth of Islam!!!!

From the terms of the ‘dua’ itself and its supposed ‘fantastic’ effects, more than likely this ‘dua Gunj al-Arsh’ seems to have been ‘Made in Inda or Pakistan’ long after the death of the Prophet (saws), rather than in Madinah during the lifetime of the Noble Messenger of Allah (saws)!!!!

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
