Answer:

Can men apply henna

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4154 Narrated by Aisha (r.a.), Ummul Mu'minin

A woman made a sign from behind a curtain to indicate that she had a letter for the Messenger of Allah (saws). The Prophet (saws) closed his hand, saying: ‘I do not know this is a man's or a woman's hand.’ She said: ‘No, a woman.’ The Prophet (saws) then said: ‘If you were a woman, you would make a difference to your nails (or hands) by applying henna.’

Although the believing males are allowed and permitted in Islam to color their hair with the ‘henna’ dye, the application of the adornment of henna on the hands or feet are specific only to the womenfolk; and it would befit a believing male who sincerely fears Allah and the Last Day to assume the similitude of women.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.820 Narrated by Ibn Abbas

The Messenger of Allah (saws) invoked the curse of Allah on men who imitate women, and those women who assume the similitude of men.

It would best for the believing males to fear Allah Subahnah and abstain from applying henna on their hands or feet during their marriage or otherwise. And Allah Alone Knows Best.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
