May i request for another question.

I am presently wearing a wig since my hair started falling a lot and it was reflecting on my personality.

Before wearing the wig i do Wuzu then put it on. and when i am doing Wazu for my Salat i am doing massah on the wig where i touch my head slighlty.

Please reply if i am doing wrong. I am in a position where i cant live without the wig.

Jazakallah.

Answer:

Wearing a wig

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth. If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the Hell Fire. Ameen.

Your Question: ….I am presently wearing a wig

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.817 Narrated by Aisha

An Ansari girl was married and she became sick and all her hair fell out. Intending to provide her with false hair, they asked the Prophet (saws) who said, "Allah has cursed the lady who artificially lengthens (her or someone else's) hair, and also the one who gets her hair lengthened."

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.133 Narrated by Aisha

An Ansari woman gave her daughter in marriage and the hair of the latter started falling out. The Ansari women came to the Prophet (saws) and mentioned that to him and said, "Her (my daughter's) husband suggested that I should let her wear false hair." The Prophet (saws) said, "No, (don't do that) for Allah sends His curses upon such ladies who lengthen their hair artificially."

Although the prohibition towards the lengthening of one’s hair artificially or using a ‘wig’ is specified only for the believing woman in the above quoted guidance, the scholars and the jurists in Islam are absolutely unanimous in their opinion that the prohibition applies to both, the believing males as well as the females.

Your Question: ….Before wearing the wig i do Wuzu then put it on. and when i am doing Wazu for my Salat i am doing massah on the wig where i touch my head slighlty.

Respected brother in Islam, unless one is satisfied that the ‘laanah’ or the curse of the Lord Most Majestic Most Supreme might be their constant companion, one should fear Allah Subhanah and immediately and unconditionally submit their will unto the Will of their Lord Creator, and abstain the wearing of a ‘wig’.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verse 6 (part):

6 O ye who believe! When ye prepare for prayer wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows, rub your heads (with water); and (wash) your feet to the ankles…..

To wipe or rub one’s head with wet hands is an absolutely obligatory condition of ‘wudu’, and being in the state of ‘wudu’ is an absolute pre-condition for a prayer to be valid in the Sight of Allah Subhanah.

If one were to wear a cap, or a scarf, or a head-cover, (or Allah forbid, a ‘wig’), and were to wipe their wet hands over their head-cover alone (‘masaa’)….it would not satisfy the conditions of ‘wudu’; and a prayer offered without being in the state of a valid ‘wudu’ would be unacceptable to Allah Subhanah. One must remove their head-cover and wipe their heads with wet hands to satisfy the condition of ‘wudu’.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
