Recite surah lahab on prayer.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear sir

Is it wrong to recite Sura Lahab in our prayers when we are praying along. I was informed not to recite this sura every time when we pray. Please confirm.

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Recite surah lahab on prayer

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The 111th Surah Al-Lahab is an integral part of the Glorious Quran, and one is at absolute liberty to recite any Surah or Verses of the Gloirous Quran in their prayers as one wills or pleases. We absolutely assure you in the Blessed Name of the Lord Most Majestic that there is absolutely no restriction upon the believers in reciting any Surah or any Verses of the Glorious Quran in their prayers, including the 111th Surah al-Lahab.

The person who ‘informed’ you that it is prohibited to recite the Surah Al-Lahab of the Glorious Quran in one’s prayers should be asked to provide the proof for his restriction from the Quran or the authentic and established Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws)…..and if he/she is unable to provide the evidence, and we absolutely assure you that there is none….then you should know with absolute conviction that the restriction is something which is self-invented and concocted by the ‘informer’ himself, and has absolutely nothing to do with the Guidance of Islam!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
