How many times deeds raised unto Allah.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Todays mail from you is stated that hadith from Al Tirmidi that, the deeds of human being is submitting to Allah the Almighty weekly twice only.  But I have read and heard that a group of Malaika the - apostals- is coming everyday mourning and going back in evening and
another group is coming down from evening and going back in mourning with deeds of human being, and that's why we are doing our best in Fajr and Magrib prayer especially in jamaath for a good record.  And heard also the Apoostals will report to Allah about each person that while I was there this and this person was like this and that -( the reports of the deeds).  Expecting your comments and excuse if there is any mistake.

Answer:

How many times deeds raised unto Allah

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

First and foremost brother, our Lord Creator is indeed the All-Knowing, and without an iota of a doubt, He is well Aware of everything that takes place in the Universe at all times.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verses 59-60:

59 With Him (Allah) are the keys of the unseen, the treasures that none knows but He. He Knows whatever there is on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf doth fall but with His knowledge: there is not a grain in the darkness (or depths) of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry (green or withered), but is (inscribed) in a Record Clear (with Him).

60 It is He Who doth take your souls by night and hath knowledge of all that ye have done by day. By day doth He raise you up again; that a term appointed be fulfilled; in the end unto Him will be your return then will He show you the truth of all that ye did.

Such is the Absolute and Perfect knowledge of the Lord Most Majestic, Most Supreme that He is well aware of even the deepest secrets which one keeps in one’s own heart!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 50 Surah Qaaf verses 16-18:

16 It was We who created man and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.

17 Behold two (Guardian Angels) appointed to learn (his doings); learn (and note them); one sitting on the right and one on the left.

18 Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel (Angel) by him ready (to note it).

Thus brother, it is not as if one’s deeds are raised only once or twice a day, or one or twice a week, or once or twice a month or a year….The Lord All-Knowing All-Aware is well acquainted with each and every act and deed that happens in His whole creation….Allah is our witness brother, not even a leaf falls somewhere on this earth without the Precise Knowledge and Permission of the Lord Most High, Most Supreme!

Usamah ibn Zaid inquired: "O Messenger of Allah (saws), I never find you fasting in any month like you do during the month of Sha'ban." The Prophet (saws) responded: "That is a month the people neglect. It comes between Rajab and Ramadan. It is a month in which the deeds are raised to the Lord of the Worlds. I love that my deeds be raised while I am fasting."

It is related that Abu Ayyub al-Ansari would pray four rak'at before zuhr. The people said to him: "You made that prayer continue too long!" He said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (saws) doing so. I asked him about it and he said: 'It is a time in which the doors of the heavens are opened and I wish that my good deeds be raised (to heaven) during it.'"

Related by Ahmad with a good chain.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 1261 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

The Prophet (saws) said: ‘A man's deeds are reported on Mondays and Thursdays and I prefer that I should be observing the fast when my deeds are reported.’

Exactly how and why and where and what exactly the appointed Angels of the Lord report unto Allah Subhanah is obviously amongst the knowledge of the ‘unseen’; and of the knowledge of the ‘unseen’ we can only, and I reiterate only rely on what the Lord Himself has chosen to Declare in Truth in His Glorious Quran and what the Lord Most Majestic made known to His Last and Final Messenger (saws), who in turn informed the believers.

In light of the above quoted guidance of the Messenger of Allah (saws) it is possible that in addition to the instant reporting, there are Angels appointed by Allah Subhanah who give an hourly, and/or daily, and/or twice daily, and/or weekly, and or twice weekly, and/or monthly, and/or yearly reports unto their Lord Most Majestic. How exactly this reporting structure created by the Lord Most Supreme works is obviously amongst the knowledge of the ‘unseen’ and is known to Allah Subhanah Alone….what should suffice for the believers is to believe with total and absolute conviction that absolutely nothing is or can be hidden from their Lord, and that their Lord is well aware of absolutely everything that takes place in His supreme creation!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
