Translation of hadith

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

As Salaamu Alaikum. I recently read a hadith, but do not know arabic. Could you please translate or point me in the direction of one who can translate the arabic in this hadith for me? Jazakallahu khayran Volume 8, Book 75, Number 318: Narrated Shaddad bin Aus: The Prophet said "The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: `Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Anta Khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana `ala ahdika wa wa`dika mastata`tu, A`udhu bika min Sharri ma sana`tu, abu`u Laka bini`matika `alaiya, wa Abu Laka bidhanbi faghfirli innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta." The Prophet added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."

Translation of hadith

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The translation of the supplication : “Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, Anta Khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana `ala ahdika wa wa`dika mastata`tu, A`udhu bika min Sharri ma sana`tu, abu`u Laka bini`matika `alaiya, wa Abu Laka bidhanbi faghfirli innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta." … is as follows:

Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta,

O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god except You.

Anta Khalaqtani wa ana abduka,

You created me, and I am Your slave-servant,

wa ana `ala ahdika wa wa`dika mastata`tu,

And I am on the Path of obedience, to the best of my ability.

A`udhu bika min Sharri ma sana`tu,

I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have done,

abu`u Laka bini`matika `alaiya,

I acknowledge Your blessings on me,

wa Abu Laka bidhanbi

And in front of You, I accept my sins,

faghfirli

(O Allah, please) forgive me

innahu la yaghfiru adhdhunuba illa anta.

Indeed, none can forgive sins except You.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
