I have a doubt regarding Huj .

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

As salamualikum ,

I have a doubt regarding Huj . I am earning alhumdulliah a good amount. I want to send my parents to huj. But some of my friends said that , i should do huj first before i send my parents as i am earning.
But i want to send them first, as they are nearing their old days and as a son its also my duty to help them do huj.

I wish i want to join with them, but i cannot afford to make money for 3 people to do huj.

I want to know wheather it is wrong to send my parents first before i do huj ???

Pls. justify.

Allah haafiz `

Answer:

Parents before self hajj

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: I want to know wheather it is wrong to send my parents first before i do huj ???
To the best of our knowledge there is absolutely no restriction or obligation upon a son in Shariah who wishes to send his parents to their obligatory Hajj pilgrimage before his own; the condition of one having performed their own obligatory Hajj is only in the situation where one performs a ‘Hajj-e-badl’ for their loved one.

If one can only afford the Hajj pilgrimage either for oneself or for one’s parents, and if one wishes and chooses to give preference and precedence to one’s parents rather than oneself, and enables and arranges and provides for them to fulfill their obligatory Hajj pilgrimage before one’s own, without an iota of a doubt, one will have their due and full reward with their Lord Most Gracious.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
