Answer:

Children born to muslim and non-muslim

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

We assume that you wish to inquire whether the off-spring born from a muslim married to a non-muslim is accepted as a believer in Islam.

Beloved brother, being a believer in the Sight of Shariah or Islamic Law has more to do with and one’s declaration, than to whom one is born! When a child born to a set of parents who are both disbelievers can very well become a muslim by his declaration of the ‘shahaadah’ (testification of faith); there is absolutely no reason why a child born from a muslim and non-muslim set of parents cannot become a believer!

Your Question: I would like to know if the offspring of a muslim and a non-muslim is accepted in islam as a muslim.

Regardless of which set of parents one is born from, if one declares the ‘shahaadah’ or testification of faith in the Absolute Oneness of Allah Subhanah and the appointment of Prophet Mohamed (saws) as Allah’s Last and Final Messenger, he/she will be regarded and accepted as a muslim by the believers and in the sight of Shariah. Every single right, without exception, that is due to a muslim will be accorded to this brother/sister in full.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
