One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

AssalamoAlaikum Brother

i know this old lady who has the most weird views about Islam. She considers herself religious, but does not believe in the system of namaz or the Hadeeths but just follows her own interpretation of the Quran.

Recently at a gathering, she started predicting the future for different people and then she stumbled upon me and made predictions about my fortunes and marriage and other nonesense.

i need a good logical answer to shut her up once and for all. I know that predicting the future is strictly forbidden. I know its a BIG SIN. Is it true that it equals shirk and therefore those who predict the future or go to fortune tellers will be treated as Non muslims and burn in hell for eternity??

i know a few hadeeth about this but what i`m realy looking for is some sort of a Quranic verse, because people often debate about the authenticity of the Hadeeth but a verse from the Quran can very easily be used as a legitimizing force.

Kindly provide me with an answer about this.

Thans

Answer:

Future foreteller soothsayer from Quran

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 31 Surah Luqman verse 34:

34 Verily the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah (Alone). It is He (Alone) Who sends down rain and He (Alone) Who knows what is in the wombs. Nor does anyone know what it is that he will earn on the morrow: nor does anyone know in what land he is to die. Verily with Allah is full knowledge and He is acquainted (with all things)

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 72 Surah Jinn verses 25-27:

25 Say (O Prophet (saws)): "I know not whether the (punishment) which ye are promised is near or whether my Lord will appoint for it a distant term.

26 "He (Alone) knows the Unseen, nor does He make any one acquainted with His Mysteries

27 Except (what He Wills to) a Messenger whom He has chosen.”

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verse 179:

179 Allah will not leave the believers in the state in which ye are now until He separates what is evil from what is good. Nor will He disclose to you the secrets of the Unseen. But He chooses of His Messengers (for the purpose) whom He pleases. So believe in Allah and His Messengers: and if ye believe and do right ye have a reward without measure.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verses 59-60:

59 With Him Alone are the keys of the Unseen the treasures that none Knows but He. He Alone Knows whatever there is on the earth and in the sea. Not a leaf doth fall but with His knowledge: there is not a grain in the darkness (or depths) of the earth nor anything fresh or dry (green or withered) but is (inscribed) in a Record Clear.

60 It is He Who doth take your souls by night and has knowledge of all that ye have done by day. By day doth He raise you up again; that a term appointed be fulfilled; in the end unto Him will be your return then will He show you the truth of all that ye did.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 27 Surah Naml verses 73-75:

73 But verily thy Lord is full of grace to mankind: yet most of them are ungrateful.

74 And verily thy Lord Knows all that their hearts do hide as well as all that they reveal.

75 Nor is there aught of the Unseen in heaven or earth but is (recorded) in a Clear Record.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 73:

73 It is He Who created the heavens and the earth in true (proportions): the day He Declares "Be" Behold! it is. His Word is the truth. His will be the dominion the day the trumpet will be blown. He Alone Knows the Unseen as well as that which is open. For He is the Wise well acquainted (with all things).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 78:

78 Know they not that Allah doth know their secret (thoughts) and their secret counsels and that Allah Alone Knows well all things unseen?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 13 Surah Raad verses 8-10:

8 Allah doth Knows what every female (womb) doth bear, by how much the wombs fall short (of their time or number) or do exceed. Every single thing is before His Sight in (due) proportion.

9 He Alone Knows the Unseen and that which is open: He is the Great the Most High.

10 It is the same (to Him) whether any of you conceal his speech or declare it openly; whether he lie hid by night or walk freely by day.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 11 Surah Hud verse 123:

123 To Allah Alone do belong the unseen (secrets) of the heavens and the earth and to Him goeth back every affair (for decision): then worship Him and put thy trust in Him: and thy Lord is not unmindful of aught that ye do.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 6.378 Narrated by Masruq

I said to 'Aisha, "O Mother! Did Prophet Muhammad (saws) see his Lord?" Aisha said, "What you have said makes my hair stand on end! Know that if somebody tells you one of the following three things, he is a liar:

  1. Whoever tells you that Muhammad (saws) saw his Lord, is a liar.
  2. And whoever tells you that the Prophet (saws) knows what is going to happen tomorrow, is a liar."
  3. And whoever tells you that he concealed (some of Allah's orders), is a liar."

Dear and beloved brother in Islam, know with total and absolute conviction and confidence that anyone in creation who claims to know even an iota of a part of what will happen in the future or in the unseen is no more than a manifest and confirmed liar!!! Allah Subhanah Alone has the knowledge of the seen and the unseen, the past, the present, and the future, and whatever He Wills to make known of the future, He makes it known through His Revealed Scriptures and His appointed Messengers amongst mankind.

Anyone, and we reiterate absolutely anyone in creation who claims to know or read the future of anyone is an absolute, manifest and confirmed liar and not a word of such a sooth-sayer or future-teller is to be believed in the least!

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
