Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalam-Alaikum...

I`m very grateful of you for replying my past questions. They have helped me improve myself a lot. This is an excellent website for anyone who has a query regarding Islam and its injunctions. Unfortunately, many people do not put in there questions, preferring their own personal judgement. What i need to ask you is that...

There are often disputes and arguments among my relatives in belief in Muhammed(p.b.u.h).They inquire as to what confirmation there is, in the Quran that states that five prayers are to be offered. They argue that the Allah has only commanded us to offer only 3 prayers, which have been mentioned in the Quran and that the other two( mentioned in Sunnah) are not of importance and are fabricated. furthermore, they question the aunthenticity of the Prophet Muhammad, asking for confiramation that such a man ever existed. In short, they believe in the Quran but refuse to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet.

Can you please shed light on this topic and clarify the misunderstandings...

Answer:

Believe in Prophet

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Statement: they question the aunthenticity of the Prophet Muhammad, asking for confiramation that such a man ever existed. In short, they believe in the Quran but refuse to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet.

If the people who claim to believe in the Quran but, in their ignorance and indeed arrogance, deny the teachings of Prophet Mohamed (saws), or Allah forbid, question the authenticity and existence of the Last and Final Messenger of Allah (saws)…..their very claim that they believe in the Glorious Quran is unsubstantiated for time and time again Allah Subhanah Himself confirms the appointment of Prophet Mohamed (saws) as His Last and Final Messenger to mankind.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verse 40: Muhammad (saws) is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets: and Allah has full knowledge of all things.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verse 144: Muhammad (saws) is no more than a Messenger: many were the Messengers that passed away before him. If he died or were slain will ye then turn back on your heels? If any did turn back on his heels not the least harm will he do to Allah; but Allah (on the other hand) will swiftly reward those who (serve him) with gratitude.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verses 136-137:

136 O ye who believe! Believe in Allah, and His Messenger (Muhammad (saws)) and the Scripture (Al-Quran) which He hath sent to His Messenger (Muhammad (saws)), and the Scriptures which He sent to those before (him). And who denieth Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Day of Judgment hath gone far far astray.

137 Those who believe, then reject faith, then believe (again), and (again) reject faith, and go on increasing in unbelief, Allah will not forgive them nor guide them on the way.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 285: The Messenger (Muhammad (saws)) believeth in what hath been revealed to him from his Lord as do the men of faith. Each one (of them) believeth in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. (They say:) "We make no distinction between one and another of His Messengers." And they say: "We hear and we obey; (we seek) Thy forgiveness Our Lord, and to Thee is the end of all journeys."

Allah is our witness, belief in Prophet Mohamed (saws) as the Last and Final Messenger of Allah, and indeed belief in every single Prophet before him is a condition of faith in Islam; and if one disbelieves in even the appointment of one of the Prophets of Allah, leave alone disbelieving in the Last and Final Messenger Muhammad ar-Rasool Allah (saws), that person would leave the fold of Islam and considered a disbeliever in the Sight of Allah Subhanah.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 63 Surah Munafiqoon verses 1-4:

1 When the hypocrites come to thee (O Prophet (saws)), they say (only with their mouths!): "We bear witness that thou art indeed the Messenger of Allah." Yea! Allah Knows that thou (O Mohammed (saws)) art indeed His Messenger, and Allah bears witness that the hypocrites are indeed liars.

2 They have made their oaths a screen (for their misdeeds): thus they obstruct (men) from the Path of Allah: truly evil are their deeds.

3 That is because they believed then they rejected Faith: so a seal was set on their hearts: therefore they understand not.

4 When thou lookest at them their exteriors please thee; and when they speak thou listenest to their words. They are as (worthless as hollow) pieces of timber propped up (unable to stand on their own)! They think that every cry is against them. They are the enemies; so beware of them! The curse of Allah be on them! How are they deluded (away from the Truth)!

Your Statement: In short, they believe in the Quran but refuse to follow the Sunnah of the Prophet.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verses 158: (O Mohammed (saws)) say, “O mankind, I am a Messenger to all of you from Allah, to Whom belong the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth! There is no deity but He Alone! He bestows life and He ordains death!” So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the illiterate Prophet, who believes in Allah and His Commandments. Follow him! It is expected that you will be guided aright.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisa verse 79-80: We have sent you (O Mohamed(saws)) as a Messenger to mankind, and Allah’s witness suffices for this. Whoever obeys the Messenger, in fact obeys Allah, and whoever turns away from him, he will be accountable for his deeds. Anyhow, we have not sent you (O Mohamed) to be a guardian over them.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imran verse 31-32: (O Mohamed (saws)) tell the people, “If you sincerely love Allah, follow me. Then Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, for He is All Forgiving, All Merciful.” Also say to them, “Obey Allah and His Messenger.” And if, in spite of this, they do not accept your invitation, warn them that Allah does not love those, who refuse to obey Him and His Messenger.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 157: (So, now mercy has been assigned to those) who follow this Messenger (Mohamed (saws)), the Gentile Prophet, whose mention they shall find in the Torah and the Gospel with them. He enjoins them to do good and forbids them from evil; he makes pure things lawful for them and impure things unlawful; he relieves them of their burdens and frees them from the shackles (of rites and rituals) that bound them. For this reason, those alone who believe in him, support him, succour him, and follow the Light that has been sent down with him shall attain true ‘success’.

To believe and unconditionally follow every guidance and command of the Last and Final Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws) is not only a pre-condition of ‘emaan’ or faith, but is the direct command of none other than the Lord Creator Allah Subhanah Himself in His Glorious Quran! Allah is our witness, if one claims to believe in Allah but refuses to believe in the existence, or appointment, or denies the guidance and commands of the Noble Prophet Mohamed (saws), such a person will, without an iota of a doubt, will be presented as a disbeliever in the Just and Majestic Court of Allah Subhanah on the Inevitable and Tumultuous Day of Judgment.

Beloved Brother, if after such overwhelming evidence from the Quran regarding the appointment, existence, and the requirements and commands of unconditional belief and obedience to the appointed Messenger of Allah, the ignorant still insist in their arrogance to disbelieve in the Last and Final Messenger of Allah (saws), know with certainty that Allah Subhanah has sealed up the hearts of such arrogant transgressors, and He is more than sufficient to exact retribution and revenge from those who dare to deny His Messengers!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 30 Surah Rome verses 58-60:

58 Verily We have propounded for men in this Qur'an every kind of Parable: but if thou bring to them any Sign the unbelievers are sure to say "Ye do nothing but talk vanities."

59 Thus does Allah seal up the hearts of those who understand not.

60 So patiently persevere: for verily the Promise of Allah is True: nor let those shake thy firmness who have (themselves) no certainty of faith!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
