Answer:

Is jelly haraam?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: what does burhan mean?

The Arabic term ‘burhan’ means proof or evidence.

Your Question: is jelly haram in islam?

The product ‘jelly’ by itself in its essence is not listed amongst the ‘haraam’ foods by Allah and His Messenger (saws); thus in its essence ‘jelly’ would be considered a lawful and halaal food for the believers to consume.

But if any of the haraam or prohibited products are used while making a particular type of ‘jelly’, then indeed this particular jelly would be unlawful for the believers to consume. Some types of ‘jellies’ in today’s market place apparently use ‘pig-fat’ to construct and manufacture their ‘jelly’; and because swine is listed amongst the haraam foods by Allah and His Messenger (saws), a ‘jelly’ which has ‘pig-fat’ in its ingredients would be prohibited as food for the believers.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
