Suicide bombers and Jesus to judge

Untitled document

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Sir,

I am a regular reader of your mails.  I am not of your faith but would like to ask a few questions.  I hope you will answer me.

1.  Does the holy quaran accept suicide bombings  in which innocent people are killed? Will the suicide bombers go to heaven or to hell?

2.  Is Jesus Christ mentioned as one of the holiest in the Quaran? and if yes, as far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong) It is written in the Quaran that Jesus Christ will come back on the day of judgement and Judge all the people.  If this is true then why is it that Muslims and Christians fight because if both communities believe in Jesus then there will be no fighting at all!!

I hope I have not hurt you in asking these questions.  However, I found these questions valid and so instead of keeping them in my heart I am asking you to enlighten me in this regard.

You can send me a mail on xxxxx@yahoo.co.in

Awaiting your reply.

Answer:

Suicide bombers and Jesus to judge

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Statement: I hope I have not hurt you in asking these questions.  However, I found these questions valid and so instead of keeping them in my heart I am asking you to enlighten me in this regard.

Dear and Beloved Brother in humanity, the deen of Truth called Al-Islam is based on the Absolute Wisdom and Knowledge of the Creator, and in complete accordance and alignment with the nature and logic The Merciful Lord has bestowed upon mankind.  Islam has permitted and absolutely encouraged mankind, believers and non-believers alike, to ask and satisfy any question that might arise in one’s mind regarding this deen of Truth; provided the person asking the question is seeking knowledge and wishes to better understand the wisdom behind each and every command.  It is the God-given right of any brother or sister to ask anything they wish to clarify in the deen; and it is the responsibility and duty of the good scholars to address the questions asked to the best of their knowledge and ability, and in the most polite and humble manner.

Thus my dear and beloved brother in humanity, never ever be hesitant or apologetic in exercising your right and asking any question you wish on Islam on this forum, or to any good scholar; provided your intention is seeking clarification and the understanding of the guidance and not ridicule.  We would consider it an honor and a pleasure to address any question you might have on Islam, and will try to the best of our ability to address and clarify your question in light of the guidance of Truth.

Your Question 1A:  Does the holy quaran accept suicide bombings  in which innocent people are killed? Will the suicide bombers go to heaven or to hell?

Dear and beloved brother, Islam does not even allow and absolutely prohibits and considers a grave sin the killing of innocent civilians even in a state of proper war!  Islam only allows its soldiers in war to fight against those who fight against them, and absolutely no one else.  It absolutely prohibits, even in the state of proper war, the killing of civilians who are not party to the war, the women, the aged, the children, and even the holy men of other religious beliefs; not only that Islam specifically prohibits the believers from cutting down the trees or burning plants or destroying inhabited property belonging to their enemies!

God Says in His Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 190: Fight in the Cause of God those who fight against you; but do not transgress limits; for Allah loves not the transgressors.

When asked what does transgression in war mean, the First Khalifah of the Prophet (saws), Hadrat Abu Bakr as Siddiq replied: "I advise you ten things: Do not kill women or children or an aged, infirm person. Do not cut down fruit-bearing trees. Do not destroy an inhabited place. Do not slaughter sheep or camels except for food. Do not burn bees and do not scatter them. Do not steal from the booty, and do not be cowardly."

The suicide bombing that are so well advertised today in the media is only a part of the story that is relayed, while the other part or role played by the unjust oppressing armies and occupiers and their severe persecution upon the people of the land they unjustly occupy and terrorize is completely underplayed.  What we see today from some people in the form of ‘suicide bombers’ is a reaction of some of the impatient people against the unjust and occupying armies.  If they were to fight against only those from the enemy army who fight against them, they would be justified.  But if their fight extends beyond that to kill innocent civilians, or women or children or the aged who have absolutely nothing to do with the enemy soldiers; they would have transgressed the limits of war laid down by Allah and His Messenger (saws); and they will be held accountable for their deeds in the Presence of the Majestic and Supreme Lord on the Day of Judgment.

The terrorism and extremism that is witnessed by the world today at the hands of some misguided minorities is a result of various combinations; and has absolutely nothing to do with the teachings of Islam.  The vast and absolute majority of the muslim nations and peoples absolutely condemn their acts of terrorizing innocent civilians.

What is happening in the world of terrorism today is a direct result of the severe injustice, double standards, and the oppression caused by some powerful nations in the world in collaboration with some of the oppressive and puppet regimes of the muslim nations.  The citizens of these nations have had their human rights stripped off them, their cultures and beliefs crushed, and their way of lives completely overturned by the oppressive regimes that rule them.  What we see today in the form of terrorism is some impatient and misguided people who flag the banner of Islam as their last resort in retaliation for the injustice and oppression done on them and their people.  Islam neither permits nor encourages such acts of terror on innocent civilians in the name of retaliation; and if one only studies the Quran and the life of the Prophet (saws) one would see how Islam guides their followers to seek the road of peace and re-conciliation with extreme patience and wisdom.  Islam absolutely forbids the killing and terrorizing of innocent civilians and the ones who spread this terror in the name of Islam will definitely be held severely accountable in the Just and Supreme Court of Allah Subhanah on the Day of Judgment.

To get a better and fuller perspective of how the seeds of terror are sown; one need not look too far.  The IRA conflict between the Protestants and the Catholics in the United Kingdom, or the conflict between the indigenous black population of South Africa against their White rulers, or the Tamil Tigers conflict in the Sri Lankan Islands, or the revolt of the Sikhs to create their own homeland in India, or even the famous retaliation of the Bandit Queen against the oppression done against her are enough proof of what happens when retaliation takes the form of replying force through force, resulting in nothing but terror and chaos amongst the innocent civilians of the land!

Today the majority of the 1.8 billion muslims live under oppressive regimes, backed by the superpowers of the world, where their freedoms are curtailed and they are oppressed and persecuted for their beliefs!  Instead of bearing their trials with patience and wisdom, a few amongst them have taken a path of retaliating force through force, resulting in the terrorism and extremism that is highlighted sufficiently in the media today; but no one makes a mention of the injustice and oppression done against these people which is the root cause of the extreme actions taken by some mavericks in the name of religion!

Islam indeed gives its followers a right to defend themselves against undue oppression and injustice; but strictly limits them to fight only those who fight against them in a state of war.  Some of the muslims who have taken up armed struggle against their unjust rulers like in Palestine, Kashmir, Bosnia, Chechnya, etc. are genuine freedom fighters who fight and target only the occupying armies; but any who kill or terrorize innocent civilians transgress the boundaries of Islam and will be held accountable for their deeds in the Just Court of Allah Subhanah on the Day of Judgment.

Thus my beloved brother in humanity, it is neither wise nor intelligent to take the example of a few misguided individuals and generalize the state of the general muslim nation and people as terrorists or extremists!  Calling all the muslims terrorists and extremists for the acts of a few individuals would be as wise as calling all our 700 million Hindu brethren terrorists just because a small minority of them like the RSS or Shiv Sena cause acts of terror in the name of Hindu extremism!

The wisest and most intelligent way is to always look and study the teachings of the religion and judge its followers; rather than simply look at a few followers and judge the religion!

Your Question 1B: Will the suicide bombers go to heaven or to hell?

Dear and Beloved Brother, it is not for human beings to judge or determine who will receive the Mercy of God, and who will deserve His Anger and Punishment; that is something that the All-Knowing, All-Seeing Lord will decide Himself on the Day of Judgment.  It does not behove any human being to declare that so and so will go to Paradise, and so and so will be condemned to Hell, for that is the Decision and Determination of the Lord of the Worlds Alone.

Yes, in light of the guidance of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one thing is for sure!  No person who, regardless of whether he chose to believe or disbelieve, did good will be left unrewarded and no person who committed evil and injustice will go unpunished in that Majestic and Supreme Court of the All-Mighty and All-Powerful Lord.  Each person will be accountable for the deeds he did, in the Presence of the Majestic and Supreme Lord on that Inevitable Day.

Your Question 2A:  Is Jesus Christ mentioned as one of the holiest in the Quaran?

Indeed Prophet Jesus (a.s.) is mentioned as one of the mightiest, purest, and best human beings who ever walked on this planet earth, and included amongst the mightiest Prophets of the Lord Most Merciful.

One just had to read the Holy Quran to understand the status and esteem Prophet Jesus (a.s.) is held in Islam.  No muslim can remain a muslim unless and until he sincerely believes in Prophet Jesus (a.s.) as a Messenger of God!

God Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah Maryam (Mary) verses 19-34:

16      Relate in the Book (The Quran), (the story of) Mary when she withdrew from her family to a place in the East.

17      She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them: then We sent to her Our Angel (Gabriel) and he appeared before her as a man in all respects.

18      She said: "I seek refuge from thee to (Allah) Most Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah."

19      He said: "Nay I am only a messenger from thy Lord (to announce) to thee the gift of a Holy Son."

20      She said: "How shall I have a son seeing that no man has touched me and I am not unchaste?"

21      He said: "So (it will be): thy Lord saith `That is easy for Me: and (We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us': it is a matter (so) decreed."

22      So she conceived him (Jesus), and she retired with him to a remote place.

23      And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm-tree: she cried (in her anguish): "Ah! Would that I had died before this! Would that I had been a thing forgotten and out of sight!"

24      But (a voice) cried to her from beneath the (palm-free): "Grieve not! For thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee;

25      "And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: it will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee.

26      "So eat and drink and cool (thine) eye.  And if thou dost see any man say `I have vowed a fast to (Allah) Most Gracious and this day will I enter into no talk with any human being.' "

27      At length she brought the (babe Jesus (a.s.)) to her people carrying him (in her arms).  They said: "O Mary! Truly an amazing thing hast thou brought!

28      "O sister of Aaron!  Thy father was not a man of evil nor thy mother a woman unchaste!"

29      But she pointed to the babe (Jesus (a.s.)).  They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?"

30      He (Jesus (a.s.)) said: "I am indeed a servant of Allah: He hath given me Revelation and made me a Prophet;

31      "And He hath made me Blessed wheresoever I be, and hath enjoined on me Prayer and Charity as long as I live;

32      "(He) hath made me kind to my mother and not overbearing or miserable;

33      "So Peace is on me the day I was born the day that I die and the Day that I shall be raised up to life (again)"!

34      Such (was) Jesus the son of Mary: (it is) a statement of Truth about which they (vainly) dispute.

Your Question 2B: and if yes, as far as I know (please correct me if I am wrong) It is written in the Quaran that Jesus Christ will come back on the day of judgement and Judge all the people.

Dear brother in humanity, although not specifically mentioned in the Quran, the re-coming of Prophet Jesus (a.s.) before the end of time to rule and world, has indeed been foretold in Truth by the Last and Final Messenger, Prophet Mohamed (saws).

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.657         Narrated by Abu Huraira

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said,  "By Him (Allah) in Whose Hands my soul is,  surely (Jesus,) the son of Mary will soon descend amongst you,  and will judge mankind justly (as a Just Ruler);  he will break the Cross,  and kill the pigs,  and there will be no Jizya (i.e. taxation taken from non-Muslims).  Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it,  and a single prostration to Allah (in prayer) will be better than the whole world and whatever is in it."   Abu Huraira added "If you wish, you can recite (this verse of the Holy Book):   'And there is none Of the people of the Scriptures (Jews and Christians) but must believe in him (i.e Jesus as Prophet of Allah and a human being) before his death. And on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness against them."  (Quran 4.159)

Sahih Muslim Hadith 6931     Narrated by Hudhayfah ibn Usayd Ghifari

The Messenger of Allah (saws) came to us all of a sudden as we were (busy in a discussion).   He (saws) said: “What do you discuss about?”  (The Companions) said:  “We are discussing about the Last Hour.” Thereupon he (saws)  said:  “It will not come until you see ten signs before and (in this connection),  he (saws)  made a mention of the smoke,  Dajjal (The anti-Christ), the beast,  the rising of the sun from the west,  the descend of Jesus son of Mary (Allah be pleased with him),  The Gog and Magog,  and landslides in three places,  one in the east,  one in the west,  and one in Arabia at the end of which a fire would burn forth from the Yemen, and would drive people to the place of their assembly.

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4310  Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

The Prophet (saws) said:  “There is no prophet between me and him, that is, Jesus (peace be upon him).  He will descent (to the earth).  When you see him,  recognise him:  a man of medium height,  reddish fair, wearing two light yellow garments,  looking as if drops were falling down from his head though it will not be wet.   He will fight the people for the cause of Islam.  He will break the cross,  kill swine,  and abolish Jizyah.   Allah will perish all religions except Islam.  He will destroy the Antichrist,  and will live on the earth for forty years,  and then he will die.  The Muslims will pray over him.”

Sahih Muslim Hadith 6924     Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said:  “The Last Hour will not come until the Romans land at al-A'maq or in Dabiq.   An army consisting of the best (soldiers) of the people on Earth at that time will come from Medina (to oppose them).   When they arrange themselves in ranks,  the Romans will say:  ‘Do not stand between us and those (Muslims) who took prisoners from among us. Let us fight them.’  The Muslims will say:  ‘Nay, by Allah,  we shall never turn aside from you and from our brethren so that you may fight them.’  They will then fight,  and a third (part) of the army,  whom Allah will never forgive, will run away. A third (part of the army), which will be constituted of excellent martyrs in Allah's eyes,  would be killed. The third who will never be put on trial will win,  and they will be the conquerors of Constantinople.   As they are busy in distributing the spoils of war (amongst themselves) after hanging their swords by the olive trees,  Satan will cry:  ‘The Dajjal (anti-Christ)  has taken your place among your families.’  They will then come out,  but it will be of no avail.   When they reach Syria, he will come out while they are still preparing themselves for battle, drawing up the ranks.   Certainly, the time of prayer will come and then,  Jesus (peace be upon him), son of Mary,  will descend and will lead them in prayer.  When the enemy of Allah sees him, it will (disappear) just as salt dissolves in water,  and if he (Jesus) were not to confront them at all, even then it would dissolve completely.   Allah would kill them by his (Jesus’s) hand,  and he would show them their blood on his lance (the lance of Jesus Christ).”

Sahih Muslim Hadith 7023     Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr

The Messenger of  Allah (saws) said:  “The Dajjal (anti-Christ)  will appear in my Ummah and he will stay (in the world) for forty--I cannot say whether he meant forty days, forty months or forty years.  Allah will then send Jesus, son of Mary, who will resemble Urwah ibn Mas'ud (a companion of the Prophet (saws)).   He (Jesus Christ) will chase him (the Anti-Christ) and kill him.”

It has also been reported in authentic narrations of the Prophet Mohamed (saws) that he said that his brother and Prophet, Jesus Christ son of Mary, will die and be buried next to his grave in Medina.

It is the absolute and ardent belief of every muslim that Prophet Jesus (a.s.), son of Mary, will indeed return to the earth before the Day of Judgment; and rule the world according to the Law of the Lord.  This righteous period of the rule of Prophet Jesus (a.s.) will be the best mankind have ever witnessed in the history of man!

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.658         Narrated by Abu Huraira

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said:  "How will you be when the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you,  and he will judge people by the Law of the Qur'an,  and not by the law of Gospel”

Your Question-2C: If this is true then why is it that Muslims and Christians fight because if both communities believe in Jesus then there will be no fighting at all!!

As far as the stipulations of beliefs and faith go, the Christians are close cousins of the Muslims in their faith, for indeed both are monotheistic faiths in the same lineage of Revelations which were revealed by the Creator to all His Prophets; Prophet Adam (a.s.), Prophet Noah (a.s.), Prophet Abraham (a.s.), Prophet Moses (a.s.), Prophet Jesus (a.s.) and the Last and Final Revelation of the Glorious Quran on the Last Prophet of Allah, Prophet Mohammed (saws).

God Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 135-139:

135    They say: "Become Jews or Christians if ye would be guided (to salvation)."  Say thou (O muslims): "Nay! (I would rather) the religion of Abraham, the true, and he joined not gods with Allah."

136    Say ye (O muslims): "We believe in Allah and the Revelation given to us (The Quran),  and to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses, and Jesus. and that given to (all) Prophets from their Lord; we make no difference between one and another of them and we bow to Allah (in Islam)."

137    So if they believe as ye believe they are indeed on the Right Path; but if they turn back it is they who are in schism; but Allah will suffice thee as against them, and He is the All-Hearing, the All- Knowing.

138    (Our religion Islam is) the baptism of Allah; and who can baptize better than Allah?  And it is He whom we worship.

139    Say: Will ye dispute with us about Allah seeing that He is our Lord and your Lord; that we are responsible for our doings and ye for yours; and that we are sincere (in our faith) in Him?

Indeed both the Christians and the Muslims believe in Jesus, the only difference being that the Muslims do not give ‘divinity’ to Jesus, but regard him as one of the mightiest and holiest Prophets of the Lord Creator.

The Jews believe in all the Prophets of God, except Prophet Jesus (a.s.); and were thus condemned in the Gospel revealed unto Prophet Jesus (a.s.).  Our Christian brethren did the except same thing as our Jewish brethren, and they believed in all the Prophets of God, except the Last and Final Prophet, Mohammed (saws)!   But this is what our Quran says regarding our Chrisitan brethren

Gods Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 82-86:

82      Strongest among men in enmity to the muslims thou find the Jews, and the Pagans (idolators); and nearest among them in love to the believers (muslims) wilt thou find those who say: "We are Christians:" because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world and they are not arrogant.

83      And when they (the Christians) listen to the Revelation (Quran) received by the Messenger (Mohamed (saws)), thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with tears for they recognize the Truth: they pray: "O Our Lord!  We believe; write us down among the witnesses.

84      What cause can we have not to believe in Allah and the Truth which has come to us seeing that we long for our Lord to admit us to the company of the righteous?"

85      And for this their prayer hath Allah rewarded them with Gardens with rivers flowing underneath, their eternal home (in the realms of Paradise).  Such is the recompense of those who do good.

86      But those who reject faith and belie our Revelations, they shall be companions of the Hell-Fire.

Your writing this letter to us is indeed proof of the fact, that even today, there are some amongst our Christian brethren who are men devoted to learning the Truth, and devoid of arrogance.  May the Lord God bless you, my dear and beloved brother in Humanity, and increase your and our quest in the seeking and learning of the Knowledge of Truth.  May the Lord God have mercy upon you and us, forgive you and us our sins, and guide us all to the Path that leads to His Mercy and His Grace.

Amen.

God Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imran verse 64: Say: "O people of the Book (Jews and Christians)!  Come to common terms as between us(muslims) and you: that we worship none but God; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not from among ourselves lords and patrons other than Allah."  If then they turn back say: "Bear witness that we (at least) are muslims (bowing to Allah's will)."

Beloved brother, the Truth is that indeed there should be no fight between the Christians and the Muslim, and indeed there is no fight even today amongst the two ideologies.  The fight that we witness today is between two ignorant peoples and nations, one who have distinctly declared their separation of the State from the Church and fight to enforce their ungodly and man-made laws and views on the rest of the world, and the other being the unjust and ungodly rulers who would stop at nothing to hold on to their oppressive regimes!  Neither of them are trying or striving to establish the Word or Law of their Lord in this world! Thus, even today, the fight is not between Christianity and Islam, but rather a war between two ungodly and unpious people who wish to further their own personal and political agendas in the name of God and religion!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
