Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother Burhan, Thank you for all your support so far.. Yesterday I did speak to my mother about leaving Borhism and following Islam..She was in shock.. I just need a few points to clear up to boost my confidence.. 1) you give clarification based on the Quran and hadiths..can I please get to know that how can one rely on your said hadith more than that of a bohraa? 2) I would also want to know that why did our forefathers not figure out the wrongs of Syedna, when they were even more literate and had all the time in the world...then why? 3) Do we need to change with times in Islam? Are bohris modern Islam beleivers..? 4) This year in Ramadan in the bohri masjid they are teaching the crowd quran with their meanings...??????? I am asking you only to boost up my inner strength when I speak to people next.. Looking forward for your response,

Answer:

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Sister, we never ever said that all the teachings of the Bohras was wrong. This is not possible, because then they would have been categorized as kafirs. All the sects of Islam have their basics in place. That cannot be changed. This includes most of the authentic a'ahadiths. Most of the Quran ayahs are very clear, which are basic or fundamental, of established meaning, making up the foundation of The Book, and no sect which professes belief can contradict that. Then there are some ayahs which are not of well established meaning, and those in whose hearts is perversity and agendas follow that part seeking discord and searching for its hidden meanings. This is clearly mentioned in Surah 3 Al Imran ayah 7.

Therefore you cannot make out from outside whether the Bohras or for that matter almost all the other sects are involved in bidaa and shirk. It is only when you read the Quran with understanding, will you be able to determine for yourself the various bidaa, shirk, customs, rituals and rites that these sects have falsely incorporated in the pure Deen of Truth, that is Islam.

The Bohras will give hadith references from their imams etc., without any authentic chain of narration. When you have gained the knowledge of the Quran you will immediately realize that they contradict the Quran and hence refrain from accepting it.

What you should be concerned is, do you want to live in servitude to some people who have claimed divinity without any authority from Allah swt. Do you want to bow down to them and make sajdah to them and to the hundreds if not thousands of their now deceased fore-fathers. Do you want to handover your hard earned money they exhort in the name of Islam, making them live a royal life, because of your ignorance. Do you want to visit graves and supplicate to their dead icons against all natural intelligence and commands of Allah swt.. Do you want to remain their worshippers (abde Syedna) against the direct command of your Rabb. Do you want to take their razaa for every occasion in your life when you have been granted this freedom from your Lord. Do you want to miss out on congregation rewards by not being allowed to lead prayers in your own house amongst family and friends. We can go on and on listing these abuses.

If you have no problem with the above then RIGHT you should continue being a Bohri. May Allah swt have mercy upon you.

Sister, our fore-fathers were as ignorant as we are today. They left the religion part to the priests and they toiled to make their ends meet, as we are doing. The only difference is that we have modern technology on our finger tips wherein our exposure to the world of Islam is larger. We are more educated then them and can analyze situations after comparison to more events around the world. This is the same arguments the kuffar of Arabia gave all the prophets a.s. of Allah swt. They insisted that they were only following their fathers before them.

If the Bohras have begun teaching the meaning of the Quran, then good, as soon, when the masses understand the same they will throw away the shackles of ignorance and shun the conniving priests and follow the truth. Personally we don't think that the clergy is so stupid to hit the axe on their own feet. They might teach some parts of the Quran, not the complete as it does not make good business sense. The understanding of the Quran is the only way a Muslim can free himself from ignorance and worship Allah swt as he rightly should.

We requested you earlier not to make your reversion known to anyone presently. First study the Quran and arm yourself with the knowledge of truth. Till that time be socially involved with the community shunning their customs and rituals. When you are ready then only you should drift apart silently without any elaan so that they don't bother your loved ones who have remained in the community. It is easier said than done. We could not do it too. When we have the knowledge of the truth, we want to share it with everyone and cannot understand why everybody else does not understand. That is the beauty of Islam. The fact is that the guidance to the truth is not for everyone. It is by invitation only for those fortunate ones chosen specifically by the Lord of the Worlds. We cannot guide whom we love/want, Allah swt guides whom He wishes. Guidance to Islam is a gift, a privilege a great honor, its not a right.

We hope we have been able to strengthen your resolve, if not it is owing to our deficiencies in not being able to explain properly. Lastly please do not feel hesitant to ask anything on this site. We would always try our best to portray the truth. We ask for no reward from you whatsoever, our hope for reward is mehfooz with Allah swt., InshaAllah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
