Punishment for qada prayers: ..

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

How many years of azaab is mentioned in hadith or qura'n for one time of qaza namaz.

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Punishment of one time missing salaah

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 103:

Indeed the Salaat is a prescribed duty that should be performed by the believers at (their) appointed times.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 45-46:

45      Nay seek (Allah's) help with patient perseverance and ‘salaah’: it is indeed hard except to those who bring a lowly spirit.

46      Who bear in mind the certainty that they are to meet their Lord and that they are to return to Him.

The five obligatory prayers of the day and night are a duty prescribed unto the believer by their Lord Creator.  If perchance one happens to miss one of their obligatory prayers due to sleep, or forgetfulness, or any other reason whatsoever, the person has been given the opportunity by their Lord Most Gracious to atone for their missed duty by offerring it delayed or 'qada'.

To the best of our knowledge, there are no number of years of punishment in the Hereafter prescribed in the Quran or the Sunnah for one who perchance misses their prayer on time and offers it 'qada'.  If one strives to offer their obligatory prayers at all times, and perchance happens to miss one prayer on time and then atones for it by offerring it 'qada', it would be safe to assume that their Lord Most Merciful will forgive them their oversight or negligence.

But if one is constantly negligent in offerring their obligatory prayers (or any other obligatory duty), then it is entirely upto their Lord Most Majestic to take them to severe account on the Day of Judgment, or to forgive them.

But to assume that for one prayer missed by one who is constantly observant of their obligatory prayers, one would be condemned to years of punishment by their Lord Creator is to not realize the vastness and the magnitude of the Mercy and the Forgiveness of the Lord Most Gracious, Most Forgiving.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is only ones. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
